The story behind

I’m always the one who suggests a game when family or friends gather at home. For me, it’s a way to share time with the people we love, with our phones put aside and our attention fully there. Backgammon, Aurelia’s first lampshade, grew from that feeling.

Inspired by one of the world’s oldest board games, it brings rhythm, elegance, and a sense of nostalgia to your space.

I wanted the first design to bring together two ideas at the heart of Aurelia: the pleasure of everyday rituals and bossa, that subtle charm found in thoughtful details. The backgammon board brought them together naturally: its geometric lines offered elegance, while the game itself evoked the joy of being together.

The palette was chosen to bring colour and soul into a room with quiet confidence. Sober tones meet touches of gold, a signature that echoes Aurelia’s name and its connection to the Latin word for golden.

Handcrafted Art

Each lampshade is carefully crafted by Heloisa in her atelier. She paints, cuts, and assembles every piece by hand, dedicating hours to the making of each one. This is a slow process, by choice. A way of preserving the intention behind every detail, every brushstroke, every decision.

More than a functional object, each lampshade is conceived as an art piece: something to be observed, appreciated, and collected. It is created for those who value owning unique, handcrafted pieces that stand out without effort.
